Study Resource: Discipleship: The Mission is Not Finished - Discipleship is the state of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. So, what then is a disciple? A disciple is simply a follower or a student of Jesus Christ. When we bring in the depth of New Testament teaching on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, we can expand the definition of a disciple of Jesus to be someone who is 1) following Jesus, 2) being changed by Jesus, and is 3) committed to the mission of Jesus (Matthew 4:19).

Study Resource: Evidence for Easter: Part 1 - Easter is a special time when the interest about Jesus and his death, burial, and resurrection is piqued for many. There are lots of people who share opinions. But few share the facts. This is the first of three posts giving facts about Jesus and his death, burial, and resurrection.
Study Resource: Evidence for Easter: Part 2 - The truth of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection is supremely important. But the position a person takes on these events should not be a matter of pride, arrogance, or blind faith.
Study Resource: Evidence for Easter: Part 3 - The most important questions focus on whether Jesus actually died, was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead.
Study Resource: What Is the Meaning of Easter: An Article - Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, which happened the Sunday after he was crucified on Friday. Jesus’ resurrection is worth celebrating for six reasons: His resurrection means that 1) his execution wasn’t the end, 2) there’s an afterlife, 3) he was successful in saving us from our sins, 4) he was telling the truth, 5) he ended the reign of our deepest enemies, and 6) he has begun restoring all reality.
Study Resource: Why did Jesus Rise on the Third Day: An Article - Why did Jesus’ resurrection take place three days after his death? He could have risen one day, two days, or even four days after his death and the resurrection would still be historically valid according to eyewitnesses. Is the third day merely a random, inconsequential detail tacked on to the resurrection? Or is there significance to this timeline?

Study Resource: Why Did Jesus Have to Die: An Article - If you ask five people, “Why did Jesus die on the cross?” you’ll likely get a dozen different answers. For some, it’s about sacrifice, sin, and forgiveness. For others, the focus is on Jesus’ cosmic victory over death or his ultimate example of selflessness. Each perspective raises questions that require deeper exploration. At its core, though, the Bible presents a simple yet profound explanation: Jesus chose to die because God loves humanity.
Video Resource: Good Friday and Easter: A 2-Session Study - In these sessions from The Gospel of Mark, Francis Chan teaches on Jesus’s death and resurrection and challenges us to consider how to live our lives in light of Jesus’s sacrifice and victory over death.
Video Resource: Easter Changes Everything: A 5-Session Study - The resurrection is the most important moment in history, but it is more than an event we remember on Easter Sunday. Join pastor J.D. Greear as he takes a deeper look at Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection in the Gospel of Matthew, revealing the ways we should see ourselves in Jesus’s story. Jesus died for us so that he could be alive in us today. Easter changes everything.

Study Resource: Jesus’ Light Shines in the Darkness - The apostle John explains at the beginning of his Gospel, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it” (John 1:5). By “the light,” John is referring to the truth and clarity that Jesus gives to his followers. This article reflects on what it means to let Jesus be our light and to let him shine in our darkness.
Study Resource: Jesus’ Teaching: The Primary Message - From all my study and training, I understood the Great Commission to essentially mean, go everywhere with the gospel and make disciples by teaching people to believe and obey what Jesus taught. Jesus wanted many to become His disciples, plant new faith communities, and reproduce His life in others. This message and multiplication process seems simple enough, but it wasn’t what I observed happening.
Video Resource: About Jesus: Kids’ Devotions - Help your kids know that Jesus is our Messiah, our Teacher and our King! Follow along for just 5 minutes a day as we discover how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies, taught about life in the Kingdom of God, and died and rose again to bring us all the gift of new life in him!
