Comparing Religions

While other religions may apprear to have some superficial similarities with Christianity, they actually have essential differences. They differ on a lot of key issues such as: the nature of God, the nature of man, sin, salvation, heaven, hell, and creation.

While religion is about people working their way to God, Christianity is God working His way to people.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

...Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in apprearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death-even death on a cross!  Philippians 2:5-8

Even within Christianity there appear to be different "denominations" (Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc.). These denominations have a heirarchical structure that helps them lead and govern their churches.

Mt. Gilead is an independant Christian Church. This means that we are led by the elders and ministers of Mt. Gilead. Mt. Gilead Church is supported solely by the offering and gifts of the congregation to continue doing God's work in the world.
