As you know the borders have been closed between the Dominican and Haiti for quite some time now. It is a horrific situation that has been taking place in this country. GO has served in Haiti for a very long time. Just ask some of our seasoned staff who were here during the Haiti earthquake. The way the Lord used GO Ministries to love and care for that country. GO even went so far as to deplete the entire GO Ministries bank account, trusting that the Lord would provide…and He did…so many stories.

Today, one of our fastest-growing areas of ministry is our Creole-speaking churches. They are filled with Haitians who are 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd generations.

If you have been following our family for a bit you know that we empower local leaders to create a disciple making culture and see new churches begin. The initial empowerment piece has looked like Americans bringing ideas, knowledge, and tools and passing them off to Dominicans to own, develop, contextualize, and lead. The transition from Americans to Dominicans took place over 5 years ago.

An example would be our residency program for church planters.

*The Americans led it and the Dominican watched. Then we talked.

*The Americans and Dominicans led it together. Then we talked.

*The Dominicans led it and the Americans watched. Then we talked.

*The Dominicans lead it. We continue to talk :)

Well, it continues. Just this last week, our Dominicans passed off the church planting residency to our Haitians to lead. And they crushed it! There are 15 residents. It is the same content, tools, and mentorship from the Dominican team but it is now owned, developed, contextualized, and led by Haitians. The same process shared above took place.
