    Help with the Homeless Ministry

Posted: Friday, April 8, 2011 in Serving Opportunities

Mt. Gilead has a growing homeless ministry that is providing meals and other necessities to the homeless and impoverished in downtown Indianapolis.

Every other Sunday, a group packs lunches and heads to University Park at 1 p.m., staying two to three hours depending on the weather and the need. The group provides a cooked meal each time and a sack lunch for each person to take with them to ensure that they have something for dinner. The group tries to have some type of personal item, such as coats, hats, gloves, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, etc., to hand out. Anyone is welcome to participate and there are many ways to participate.

Volunteers are needed to pack lunches, donate food or clothing items (although storage space is limited), cook meals, pray for the ministry or head downtown. Student volunteers also are encouraged to participate.

Click on the date below for more information about the menu and fill out the form if you would like to help. Please don't feel like you have to provide all the items that are requested. Give what you can or give of your time. Every little bit helps.
