Maximum Impact

We believe that if the majority of people focus their efforts to volunteer in these areas we can maximize our impact on Mooresville.

Opportunities at Mt. Gilead

Tech Volunteers: Volunteers are a big part of our weekly worship services, and we are in need of tech volunteers. No experience is needed. We’re looking for volunteers to help in our video ministry and to run our projection computer in our weekly services. If you would like to volunteer in one of these areas, please contact Mitch Dean at  or 831-1900 ext. 224 or Tanner Yates at .

Meal Makers MinistryThe Meal Makers Ministry is expanding and we are looking for volunteers. Do you like to cook? We are looking for volunteers to cook for funeral meals, New Mommy Meals and Home from the Hospital meals. If you would like to volunteer, contact Sue Lannon at 831.5664 or Jessica Imburgia at 796.5918.

Facilities and Grounds: The Grounds Ministry needs 5 to 6 people to help care for the grounds. People are needed who can operate commercial lawn mowers and trimmers, willing to pull weeds, pick up trash and generally keep our grounds looking top notch.

The Facilities Ministry needs help taking down and setting up chairs. With the growth in our Church and formation of more ministries and with that growth, more activities are being scheduled that require different set ups. Teams will be formed and each team will be scheduled once a quarter for their duties.

Please contact Richard Miller at  or call 446-6536 to volunteer or acquire more information.

CIY Scholarship: We are anticipating many students who will need some level of financial assistance to attend CIY MOVE.  If you are able to bless a student with a scholarship, please contact the Student Ministry office or simply write a check for any amount made payable to “Mt. Gilead Church” with CIY MOVE Scholarship written in the memo.  Checks can be put in the offering plate on Sunday mornings or dropped in the Student Ministry locked box anytime.  All scholarship funds go into a specified account and are used solely for this purpose.  Questions? Contact the Student Ministry office, 831-1900 ext. 262.

Opportunities at the elementary schools

Guest reader: A guest reader is someone who comes into a classroom and reads a book to a class or helps an individual student read a book. This is a one-time commitment for one hour at the elementary school of your choosing.

Study buddy: A study buddy is someone who schedules weekly time with a teacher to help a student or group of students with homework. This is a one hour a week commitment at the same school for three months.

If you are interested in either of these opportunities, contact the school of your choosing (schools and phone numbers are listed below). If it helps, follow this simple script: "Hi, my name is ________. I am from Mt. Gilead Church and I would like to be a (guest reader or study buddy)." The school will walk you through the rest of the process to get you started.

Mooresville has five elementary schools:

Join an elementary school volunteer team: We are creating a team of people who would be available to help with various projects that crop up at the Mooresville elementary
schools, including All Around the Town, providing breakfast for the elementary teachers and other hands-on projects.

If you sign up for this team, it only means that you will be contacted when opportunities are available. At that point, you can decide if the opportunity fits in your schedule, etc.

Click here if you would like to sign up for the elementary school volunteer team.

Many opportunities are available at Churches in Mission, including grocery shopping, clothes sorting, front desk support, pantry sorting, loading/unloading and stocking shelves.
