Phil was born and grew up in Indianapolis. He started at Mt. Gilead as a member in 1984 and as a minister in 1990. His primary responsibilities involve overseeing the daily operations of the church, policy and procedure details, finance and administrative details. He oversees the staff and the volunteer ministry leaders within the Mt. Gilead ministry system. Before joining the staff at Mt. Gilead, he was a biomedical engineer.

Family: Married to Lonnie; two sons, Josh and Jordan

Education: Undergraduate work in chemistry and pre-med program at Indiana University; also undergraduate study in mechanical engineering at IUPUI. Two undergraduate degrees, a bachelor's and an associate degree in theology from Summit Theological Seminary. Two master's degrees, an MA in theological studies from Louisville Bible College and a M. Th. in pastoral counseling/chaplancy from CTS.

Affiliations and memberships: Member of American Associatin of Christian Counselors; certified RTS counselor of the National Bereavement Center; licensed chaplain and member of the Association of Professional Chaplains; ordained minister in the Christian Church/Churches of Christ; Ecclesiastical Endorsement from Christian Church/Churches of Christ.
